Sawyer Bickford is an environmentally conscious landscape photographer. He has spent much of his life in the outdoors and uses his camera to express his observations of the land. He seeks understanding of the landscape not only through his camera but through numerous other venues as well; be it mountain biking or skiing, backpacking or other adventure, he is always attentive and aware of the surroundings.

Sawyer grew up in the hills north of Portland, Maine, and went to an outdoor oriented private school in New Hampshire. He received a Visual Storytelling Certificate at Maine Media Workshops and is pursuing further education. He participates in maintaining hiking trails in the White Mountains and biking trails in the Portland area.

Always being a part of the outdoors led Sawyer to photography. Initially he photographed the beautiful and majestic places he had come to know. He soon turned the lens towards the inescapable effects of deforestation. His current work is an informative look at the consequences of industry clashing with nature.
